Intelligent Personal Learning Environments System: EPA!
EPA! is a project co-financed by Erasmus+ (101082868-ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE-STRAND-2) that aims to promote an innovative educational model for both educators and students. It focuses on the development of personal learning environments where each individual takes control of their own learning process, assessing the quality of each personal environment through content relevance, ethical information management, and accessibility. Additionally, this intelligent platform for managing personal learning environments will help you develop your competencies and skills through a dynamic tracking and feedback system.
Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) are dynamic and personalized digital spaces that integrate educational resources, technological tools, and learning strategies to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills. In these environments, students are the main actors in their own learning, selecting and managing the resources that best fit their needs and interests.
The beneficiaries include students, teachers, and the productive sector. During the development of the project, we will directly reach 12,000 students, of which 3,000 are women, 600 teachers (200 women), 20 university managers, and 500 entities (companies/others).
The outcome will be the use of the system by the same number of people mentioned above, with 10% of the students obtaining credentials for their learning, with at least 360 of these credentials being validated and at least 120 students being either employed or starting their own ventures.
---
EPA! is aimed at the entire educational community interested in transforming learning through Personal Learning Environments, so the beneficiaries will include:
Teachers: Providing tools, resources, and strategies to help teachers disseminate and implement PLEs in their classrooms, promoting personalized and active learning for their students.
Students: Offering them the opportunity to take control of their own learning, developing skills in autonomy, critical thinking, and educational resource management.
Educational Institutions: Fostering innovation by promoting the use of digital technologies and student-centered learning methodologies.
Researchers: Providing a platform for researching and developing new methodologies and tools in the field of PLEs.
EPA! aims to create an intelligent portal to facilitate the management of personal learning environments for learners and educators. It serves as a resource and tool center, enabling tracking, recommendations, and credentials, communication and resource sharing, and collaboration among users to enhance the quality of these environments. It takes into account each user’s background (e-portfolio) and professional aspirations, while also addressing the needs of the productive sector.
In order to facilitate and enhance the alignment between formal education, informal and non-formal learning, as well as the requirements to boost students' employability and entrepreneurship, the EPA! project will implement an intelligent recommendation system that suggests educational resources and tools to users based on their interests, needs, and learning progress. It will also develop digital credentials that recognize and certify the skills and competencies acquired by students through their personal learning environments. Additionally, students will be able to create learning portfolios that showcase their experiences and achievements as evidence of personal and academic development.
EPA! takes into account the need to harmonize technological developments with teaching methodologies. Therefore, it not only focuses on creating the intelligent system for tracking, recommendations, and credentialing but also trains teachers and students in the application of the personal learning environments methodology. This is achieved through various training activities, ensuring the effective immersion and utilization of the methodology.
